If you should experience a medical emergency - no matter what time of day or night - you should know that medical care is available to you, close to home. The Delta Hospital Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week for adults and children of all ages. One emergency physician and at least three registered nurses are on duty at all times. Also, a number of medical specialists are on-call to assist the emergency team when necessary.
Medical Inpatient Unit
We provide care to a broad spectrum of our community including patients requiring acute medical services, sub-acute re-hab, palliative and hospice care as well as the occasional overnight surgical patient. The majority of patients admitted to Delta Hospital are cared for by a dedicated team of hospitalists, doctors that focus on in-patient care.
Daycare Surgery
Daycare Surgery is precisely what its name implies - surgery performed without admitting the patient for an overnight stay. All daycare surgery patients come in to the hospital in the morning and after the surgery is over and the post operative observation in uneventful, the patient can go home that same day. Many people like to spend as little time in the hospital as possible and prefer to be at home with family or friends. These procedures may be carried out under local, regional or general anesthetic. An ever increasing number of surgical procedures can be carried out on a day-stay basis including hernia operations, minor gynecology, joint surgery and cataracts.
Extended Care Unit - Mountain View Manor
The Extended Care Unit at Delta Hospital is home for 97 residents who have limited mobility and are primarily wheelchair dependent. The residents tend to be medically fragile and are in need of long term nursing and residential care services. The majority of the residents who are admitted into long term care are the frail elderly who expect to live in the facility to the conclusion of their lives. Therefore the care needs of the residents are complex and varied ranging from nursing care and programs that celebrate active daily living to the provision of quality palliative care that is inclusive of friends and families.
