On January 27, 2010 I was in Delta Hospital for a medical procedure performed by Dr. Robibo. I wish to thank him and the following staff that prepared me for my visit: Dr. Hornstein, Cheryl, Edith, Joan & Melanie.

I found these people to be friendly, compassionate and professional throughout. These individuals should be recognized for the dedication they have to their profession.

Thank you all for your kindness and commitment to making my stay comfortable.

I had my first experience of day surgery recently at Delta Hospital. I was thoroughly impressed with the entire process from my admission to discharge. I was treated with respect, kindness and understanding by all those I had contact with in the surgical day care unit, OR team and others.

It was evident the staff members have strong clinical expertise, yet are caring and interested in their patients' well being. This is very refreshing and reassuring, especially considering the many constraints and uncertainty the health care system is facing.

I am very thankful for the positive experience I had at Delta Hospital. I appreciate the staff that cared for me, along with my surgeon, Dr. Arkuran. I must also say I am very grateful for the outstanding medical care I receive on a regular basis by Dr. Ruth Turnbull at Trenant Park Medical Clinic in Ladner.

My experience has shown me that Delta Hospital cares about its patients, community and the delivery of effective health care.

I want to start out by saying a heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Delta Hospital who went out of their way to make my emergency appendectomy on June 29th a pleasant experience. I have always had mixed feeling about hospitals, mainly because when you are there you’re always in need of help. I would like to compliment the staff of Delta Hospital for their efficiency and professionalism in which they do their jobs.

On June 28 around 3 a.m., I was awoken by severe stomach pains and began vomiting. By 8 a.m. the pain had focused its attention to my lower right abdominal area. At this point the pain was not something that could be overlooked and I was driven to a Ladner walk-in clinic. The doctor took a very concerned look at me. She took my temperature, inspected my abdomen and immediately contacted Delta Emergency and put important measures into play. Once signed into Delta Emergency, blood work and a CT scan were completed. The results were conclusive that my appendix was infected and in need of removal.

At this point only a few hours had passed and I was booked for surgery. I was admitted to the surgical daycare facility and was given conscientious care by the wonderful surgical daycare staff; Ruth, the surgical daycare and operating room Educator, Susan, Marita and Jennifer.

It was at this point that I was notified that Dr. Jean Segal, one of Delta’s premier doctors, was going to stay late to perform the surgery and that Dr. Hornstein, chief of Anesthesiology, was also going to stay late to give me my anesthetic. I am extremely appreciative for their skills. Upon completion of the surgery, I was admitted to the post anesthetic recovery unit and was looked after by Patti and Danielle, their gentle nature and calm efficiency allowing for relaxation and ultimately faster healing.

Once again I would like to thank the whole staff of Delta Hospital for doing so well what others would not dream of doing. We are truly blessed to live in Delta, as we are so well looked after should we need help.

Recently, I had an angiogram performed at Delta Hospital.  The Cardiologist was checking for arteriosclerosis. The good news was my heart vessels were perfectly clean.  The weird news; they discovered a mass the size of an orange growing on the left lobe of my liver. Having unexplainably lost 17 lbs over the last year or so, I was worried the two were connected.

The nurses, doctors and staff at Delta Hospital were very supportive. Their medical care and emotional support were greatly appreciated while I waited to find out the nature of the liver mass. Luckily for me, a CT scan confirmed that the mass was a hemangioma – a harmless tumour-like structure. Waiting for the CT scan was an extremely difficult time. I was so grateful to have one in our community.

I would like to thank the Foundation and others who have worked diligently over the last several years to get a CT scanner for our hospital. You provided me the opportunity to get access to an important diagnostic tool within my community, and the people who staff the hospital – well, they are just fantastic.

Having state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment is critical in making us a good hospital; but it is the people here that make Delta Hospital a great place.

I recently fell ill and had to go to Delta Hospital's Emergency. I have never been treated so well or so quickly in a hospital and I want to give thanks to the doctor and nurses who helped make my short stay so tolerable. Within ten minutes of arriving, I was in a bed. Fifteen minutes later I was seen by the doctor and within fifteen minutes of his assessment, I had an IV, ECG and blood panels taken. As soon as radiology opened I was taken for x-rays and very shortly after I was diagnosed with pneumonia. Without this little gem of a hospital in our community, it would have taken hours for me to get to a hospital, never mind being diagnosed. As a community, we saved Delta Hospital.

I was in the process of being treated as an outpatient of the ER for an infection in my hand.  I was required to come to the ER for IV antibiotics each day for the past three days and now possibly three or four more times.  The care and professionalism of the staff is exemplary.  From the admitting clerk to triage, to the doctors and nurses in the ward itself, courtesy and kindness is apparent.  As I sit fuelling up for the day, I have a chance to watch the interaction between patients and staff.  They are all top notch in their attitude and care. My compliments.
