Ernie Karalus, Past District Deputy of Delta Elks Lodge No. 531 was pleased to present $9,374 to Bev Matushewski, Delta Hospital Manager of Health Services and Maria Rosendahl Boothby, ECU Occupational Therapist for a new Sabina lift and tilt wheelchair.
The Sabina lift provides assistance to staff in helping patients with limited mobility from their beds into a wheelchair in a safe and secure manner. The new tilt wheel chair provides extra cushioning and neck support, while still giving a patient the mobility to get around unassisted.
The Elks are a national charitable, community service organization with a membership open to both men and women. With close to 20,000 members, the Elks of Canada are committed to being a progressive, family focused organization, promoting and supporting community needs; hospital and building projects, sports groups, playgrounds and community centers.
The Delta Elks meet on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday every month 8 p.m. at the I.O.O.F. Centennial Hall, 5425 Ladner Trunk Road. New members are always welcome. |
