
The Delta Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce the recipient of its 2009 Robert T. Reynolds Memorial Scholarship is Kelsey Millman, a student from Delta Secondary. In a ceremony at Foundation offices on June 22 with her parent Garnet and Reid present, Kelsey was awarded the prestigious scholarship. Mrs. Georgina Reynolds, wife of the late Robert T. Reynolds also attended the presentation.
Interested in a career in journalism, Kelsey plans on continuing her education in September at UBC.
She has been deeply involved in a number of charitable endeavors including support for the homeless, working as a camp councilor and helping child soldiers in Uganda.
Kelsey was chosen from over 30 applicants in this year’s selection process for the Robert T. Reynolds Memorial Scholarship. One of Delta Hospital’s first presidents and a member of Delta municipality’s pioneer families, Robert T. Reynolds made outstanding contributions to the community and dedicated much of his time and energy towards obtaining a hospital for Delta. His dedication and perseverance in the face of many obstacles was a major factor in a community hospital becoming a reality.
A scholarship of $1,000 is awarded annually in recognition of Robert T. Reynolds’ exemplary service. The scholarship is open to all grade 12 students residing in Delta who intend to undertake post-secondary education. An applicant’s success is measured on their participation in extra-curricular activities, community volunteerism and academic achievement.
